Welcome to Porto

Porto. Is. It.

Porto, Europe's dusty old jewel that, starting in 2005, RyanAir and EasyJet blew on like a birthday candle to reveal a long-lost luster.

It could even be argued that Porto has single-handedly revived the world's interest in Portugal. Sure, the Algarve in the south has long been a favorite of British holiday makers and Lisbon has contentedly maintained its status as a pleasant, albeit bland European capital.

But as anyone who has visited Porto and truly explored its crevices can tell you, Porto is uniquely captivating.

It's the detailed carvings in local granite that adorn the buildings, the colorful tiles, the musty damp smell that permeates the winding alleys below the Sé Cathedral, the raisiny smell of the Port wine cellars, the creaky staircases, the no-BS locals, the fresh food, the steep hills, the hidden churches, the unexpected views and the Douro River. There are few urban sights more beautiful than a drive along the Douro River at dusk as the yellow street lights flick on around you.

Porto is a city for falling in love, to fall in love with.

Welcome.
